Newsletter

It is best practice periodically inform your customer about new products, new actions, discounts, etc. And newsletter is one of the best ways. Maybe some readers ask, what is newsletter? Newsletter is same as common e-mail, but recipient is mostly more than one (mostly all your customers which allow receive newsletter). Each customer can choose during registration (Figure 1) or in edit profile page (Figure 2) if want or does not want receive newsletter.

You can send newsletter one by 14 days. You can insert to the newsletter text information, pictures and links. Each newsletter has same skeleton which is described in New newsletter part. You also can allow Google Campaigns in newsletter and very easily watch success of newsletter.

Listing

On Figure 3 you can see listing already created newsletter. In this page you can find:

  • Table with already created newsletter (Figure 4). Each row contains in last column (right side) action buttons – detail, update, delete (if newsletter is going to be send) or only detail (if newsletter has already sent). Clicking on the edit button you can edit newsletter and its parts, clicking on detail button you should see how newsletter will be shown to your customers and clicking on the delete button you can delete newsletter.

  • Menu bar (Figure 5) is only one button – New newsletter button front to the create form.

CreateNew newsletter

In this page (Figure 6 and Figure 7) you should see create form. Whole form is divided to the 5 parts.

In first part (Figure 8) is required input field Subject. Here type name of newsletter (For example New products online!). Under Subject input field is checkbox with label Show as campaign in Google Analytics. If you check off this checkbox then into all links will be inserted special code and newsletter will be measure by Google Analytics. If you use Google Analytics we highly recommend also use Google Campaigns and Google E-commerce. More info about these Google services you find in documentation - Google.

In second part (Figure 9) is optional input field Top paragraph. Input field uses WYSIWYG editor. Thanks it you can easily format text (bold, italic, underline, ...).

In third part (Figure 10) is 24 boxes (Figure 11). Each box contains optional Picture field, required Heading field, optional URL field and optional Note field. Into the Picture field you can insert image (.png, .gif, .jpg), into the Heading field you have to type text, into the URL field you can type link for example to the detail of some products on e-shop and into the Note field you can type some text.

In real newsletter skeleton is very similar (Figure 12).

In fourth part (Figure 13) is optional input field Bottom paragraph. Input field uses WYSIWYG editor. Thanks it you can easily format text (bold, italic, underline, ...).

In fifth part (Figure 14) is required field Start sending. Here you can choose date when newsletter starts send.

On the bottom of form is 2 buttons (Figure 15). First Save only save newsletter and redirect you to the listing. Second Save and preview save newsletter and redirect you to detail page where you can see how newsletter looks and how will be shown to customers.

EditEdit

On this page (Figure 16) you can update already created newsletter. Form is same as create form just it is pre-filled by real values.

PreviewPreview

In this page (Figure 17) you can see how real newsletter looks and how will be shown to customers. Preview of newsletter is also shown when you click to the Save and preview button during create newsletter process.

DeleteDelete

If you want to delete some newsletter you have to only click to delete button (Figure 18) and confirm alert (Figure 19). After that record would be deleted.

Recommendation

On first sight it is probably too much complex. As soon as you create more than one newsletter you find out it is not too difficult. We recommended first create one test newsletter and set Start sending field to some future date. And when you familiarize with creating newsletter process just delete this newsletter. Do not underestimate newsletter. It is very strong marketing tool.
